Jewish Learning Connection of Central New Jersey Launches Programming with Educational Gala

The newly formed Jewish Learning Connection of Central New Jersey debuted its educational programming with a celebration of Jewish thought on Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 4-5:30 PM at the Jewish Community Center Wilf Campus in Scotch Plains. ”The Jewish Learning Connection has been established as a tremendous resource for our community, providing opportunities to experience dynamic speakers who are not readily available in the area,” explained Rabbi Herman, Director of the JLC.

JLC programs will consist of a series of fascinating and thought-provoking lectures. They will provide fresh and relevant perspectives on Judaism, which will help enhance the quality of our lives as individuals, as parents and as members of the Jewish community. These classes are geared to the entire Jewish community, including the unaffiliated. There are no prerequisites except for a desire to engage in the joy of Jewish learning.

The kick-off gala featured noted personality David J. Lieberman, Ph.D. Dr. Lieberman, an award-winning author and an internationally recognized leader in the fields of human behavior and interpersonal relationships. His topic, “How to Stay Sane in an Insane World” was aimed at helping people gain peace of mind while the economy goes to pieces. Specifically, at times of crisis when everyone is looking for greater meaning in life, Dr. Lieberman shows how Judaism’s insights into happiness, love and meaningful relationships are invaluable. Dr. Lieberman’s seven books (including two New York Times best sellers), have been used by the FBI, the Department of the Navy, and Fortune 500 companies. He has appeared as a guest on The Today Show, Fox News, and The View. He is also the keynote speaker every semester at the Maimonides Program at Rutgers University .

Now that the kick-off has happened, the JLC is offerring community members the opportunity to register for a four part mini-series of educational classes, which will be held at the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, NJ. There will be two concurrent classes for people to choose from on each of the four consecutive Wednesday evenings in March (March 4, 11, 18, and 25) at 8 PM.

Please fill out this registration brochure to participate.

One set of four classes will be taught by Dr. David J. Lieberman, and will include “The Seven Keys to Self-Esteem”, “How to Raise Happy, Healthy and Resilient Children (and Grandchildren”), “How to Make a Good Marriage Great” and “Get Along Great: How to Improve Almost Any Relationship and Resolve Most Any Conflict.”

Alternatively, Rabbi Simcha Barnett, a senior executive in New York City for the Executive Learning Program of Aish International, a Jewish educational organization committed to sharing the beauty of our heritage with fellow Jews, will teach the following four classes: “The Essence of Passover…Freedom”, “Beyond Matzah and Marror: Transforming Ritual into Spiritual”,”More than Maxwell House- Solving the Puzzle of the Haggadah” and “How to Enrich the Seder Experience.”
